Where’s Julie?

Thanks to Julie for this poem.  The picture is of work by John Holt.

Where’s Julie?

Where is the smile I used to see, the one that said, ” I’m glad to be me” ?
Where is the face I used to know, the one that showed it knew where to go?
Where is the spark that used to ignite, the one that would always put up a fight?
Where is the girl I used to know, the one who was passionate and set all aglow?

She’s sitting beside you, staring down from the wall, time has surely taken its toll,
Now there’s a face full of anguish and despair, sorrow and sadness dwells right there.
Now the spark’s gone, it’s no more alight, a tired hollow feeling’s extinguished its fight,
She’s sitting beside you, staring down from the wall, wondering how long it will take her to fall.
